The Power of Valuable Content

Everyone wants to be heard on the internet these days. From tweets to blog posts, we are all looking for a spot in this world to attract an audience and build a successful brand. We’ve seen accounts explode from meaningless content only to later learn that the likes and followers had been bought. For years, people thought that not having a real point but posting on a consistent basis is what increased their following and engagement. As a person behind the scenes, I quickly learned that quality in partnership with quantity is what bring true success.

You might be wondering how you can bring value to your office. Maybe you think you’re already doing so, but you don’t have much engagement so you’re unsure of your success. Having a successful brand building strategy includes posting valuable content on a consistent basis at the right time. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Find out what your audience likes. Content can’t be of value to your audience if they don’t care about it. How can you meet their need? Is the post entertaining or informative? Is it worth sharing or commenting on? This takes research and experimentation. I’m currently going through the process with my new fitness instagram. I’ve found that my followers enjoy my progress and food pics, but also the infographics I find and share have attracted new followers. This leads me to my second point.
  2. Use hashtags for research and sharing. You’ll find out more about your audience and what they consider valuable when you follow hashtags and use them. Posts that include relevant hashtags often have increased engagement than those that are hashtag free. You’ll expand your reach by using hashtags that are relevant to your target group. You’ll also figure out exactly what you should share or post by assessing the success of the top posts under each hashtag.
  3. Think long-term. Building a brand is a process. Something that works this month, may not work next month. Social media platforms change consistently. To make an effort to use your time and money as effectively as possible, think long term! You want to gain and retain followers. You can do this by keeping up with the trends, testing them out on your audience and making adjustments along the way.

This is by no means an easy process. If you think you can get Will Smith’s YouTube channel success in the amount of time that he did, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Without a mega platform like being an award-winning actor and cultural icon, you’re bound for a long journey of experimentation and failure. However, out of that failure will come much success. It only takes time, consistent posting and bringing real VALUE to your audience.
