My Content Creation Routine

I’m a writer by day and by night. My professional job is all about content creation and obviously I create content for my blog, upcoming podcast, Twitter chat, you get the picture. People wonder if I get tired of writing or if I run out of things to talk about. I never get tired of getting my point across in the written format. I’ve been writing essays since I was 7. I’m 22 and I’m still not over it. That’s a great thing though, right? We should never get tired of the things that we’re passionate about and good at doing. My passion and love for writing is what helps me bring great content both personally and professionally. I do have a method to my madness when it comes to creating new content!

I read, a lot. When I first get to work, I log onto Twitter on my iMac. Every day I’m on Twitter scrolling through the news to find out what’s going on in the world. Twitter is my favorite place to get news due to the fact that everyone is tweeting and giving their opinions. The best writers are informed people. I can’t create anything without being aware of what’s going on in the world around me!

I also like to read books by marketers who’ve had years of experience in the field. Seth Godin is one of my favorite marketing writers! As a writer, I know that my skills can always be improved. I enjoy learning new ways to captivate my audience and sell my products and services through content marketing. I typically go to Amazon and search books on copywriting, content marketing, social media marketing, etc. on a weekly basis. I select my favorites and read a few chapters here and there for inspiration.

Another thing that really activates my content creation juice is Pandora! I listen to Redemption (Drake) radio at work. Artists such as Russ, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown and Jacquees are played on this station. It’s a very calming and chill channel which helps me feel relaxed and prepared to write! Writing to silence just isn’t my thing. I can do it successfully, but a good playlist helps me pump out more content.

What do you do to create content on the job or at home? I’d love to know your content creation routine! Leave a comment below with your routine.
